Transport to and from San Diego Airport


Amtrak Intercity and Coaster commuter trains connect passengers to downtown San Diego and also to coastal North County. It includes stops in Old Town, Sorrento Valley, Solana Beach, Carlsbad, Encinitas and Oceanside.


Passengers that to/from San Diego airport can pick up the Route 992 of the Metropolitan Transit System to connect with Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner and the Coaster at Amtrak’s Santa Fe Depot. Route 992 operates from 5 am to 11.30 pm every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends and holidays.


Amtrak: operates 24h daily during all year. Tickets may be purchased at the Amtrak station. Coaster: operates every day, with the exceptions of New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.



Route 923 of the Metropolitan Transit System bus runs between Ocean Beach and downtown of San Diego.



At the airport there are parking shuttles that links the parking lots with both terminals, T1 and T2. The Airport Loop shuttle service provides free, frequent transportation between terminals and the car rental center as well. The Airport Loop runs seven days a week, 24 hours a day. It also connects with Middletown Station (which serves the Green Line Trolley).
